Every Thanksgiving morning, my children and I eagerly look forward to participating in the Annual SVLG Trot benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County. This event embodies the true spirit of Thanksgiving, bringing our community together to support neighbours facing food insecurity. In Santa Cruz County—the most expensive rental market in the nation—one in three residents struggles to access enough nutritious food. The Turkey Trot reminds us that hunger is not just a holiday concern, but a daily reality for thousands of local families. By turning gratitude into action, this event helps make a meaningful difference in people's lives, and I am proud to be part of a tradition that strengthens our community year after year.
Happy trotting!
HomeFirst is deeply grateful to the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot team and everyone running alongside us. Your support brings hope to thousands who need it in our community. The partnership is also personal: Being able to share the race with my family matters to me, because I want my girls to grow up knowing that service, empathy, and community are things we practice, not just things we talk about.
For over 20 years the Healthier Kids Foundation has had the opportunity to partner with the SVLG Foundation Turkey Trot.
